The Centerpiece: At the heart of our expansion is the construction of a state-of-the-art facility that will house a modern restaurant offering sumptuous dining experiences, a fully-equipped pro shop, spacious offices, and a versatile wedding and event venue. This central hub will be the new pulse of our club, combining style and comfort with the serenity of our lush fairways.

Residential Elegance: In line with our vision, we will introduce luxurious condominiums along the scenic first fairway, providing residents with a tranquil view and premier access to all the amenities the village has to offer.

Wellness and Retail: Committed to holistic health and convenience, our wellness center will offer a variety of services aimed at promoting well-being. This, alongside our retail shops and fresh food marché, will ensure that both indulgence and necessities are within reach.

What do you mean by affordable?

The generally accepted measure of affordability is a ratio between household income and housing prices. Affordable housing costs - such as rent or mortgage and related utilities - should not be more than 30% of a household’s gross income for middle- and lower-income earners. This means a single person making around $20/hr or $40,000 per year should have housing costs of around 30% of that amount, or around $1000 per
month. This was realistic 5 years ago but is almost impossible today.

Today, many people are living in a housing crisis where their housing costs are more than 50% of their income. This is in part because of the few low-cost housing options on the market. We will work with CMHC and other programs to try to help create housing options that are more available and more affordable. For any housing created with the assistance of government investments, the specific definition of affordable will be part
of their program requirements.

Are the White Squirrel services only available to members?

White Squirrel values our members and the public. Our services have and will continue to be responsive and accessible to both our members and visitors. As is currently the case, the public will always be welcome at the White Squirrel and village services are intended to be for all. Within this, and as is the case with our current services, memberships may have certain priority booking privileges or rewards. We look forward to meeting and discussing our plans with members to make sure we are responsive to your interests as we continue to build on the great work we’ve done to date. What kind of retail do you propose will go into the buildings?

What will the Marché offer? How big will it be? Will it have takeout?

Will the health and wellness centre be open to the public and what services will it include?

We strive to build a community-based facility focusing on a holistic approach to wellness that is accessible to all members of the public. We aim to attract a variety of health services such as family physicians, specialists, medical aestheticians, a medical lab, a pharmacy, mental health services, and a health and relaxation spa that encompass a range of services related to improving health and well-being. Included in the wellness centre we plan to include recreation facilities such as a gym with fitness classes and pickleball courts.

As Bluewater continues to grow and develop as a destination of choice for those beyond our community and region, we see more vehicle and foot traffic on our roads. We and many of our Bluewater neighbours have long advocated for roadway and traffic management changes to address the safety of those who walk, cycle, and commute along our already busy roads. We anticipate that future residents and patrons to White Squirrel will come from those already residing on site as well as from new visitors using the provincial roadway. We have renewed discussions on this topic with authorities and welcome your support in asking them to enhance traffic calming strategies where Highway 21 acts as a connector street to Bluewater homes, public transportation, amenities, services, and schools for existing and future residents.
